Fifth grade music class is an exciting synthesis of all of the skills learned in previous years. Now that students can read rhythmic and melodic notation, play simple and complicated rhythm patterns on pitched and un-pitched percussion instruments, hear and demonstrate pattern and form in music through movement and dance, match pitch and sing harmonies, the fun really begins! Students now have all the tools they need to compose short rhythmic and melodic musical pieces.
Fifth grade music class is focused on composition. Our first composition project focused on the blues. Click here to learn more about this project and to listen to the students' final compositions!
